YMCA Mini Soccer Academy
The YMCA grass roots football section, we call it the ‘YMCA Mini Soccer Academy,’ is made up of teams from U7, U8, U9 and U10’s. The players come along to develop their skills guided by coaches who hold the ‘UEFA ‘A’ License’, FA Level 2 and Level 1 qualifications, who also hold a FA registration, Emergency Aid and a DBS Certificate (Formally CRB).
The YMCA Academy is building Values and Behaviours within the children that will allow them to enjoy football and help them to progress as individuals, the children enjoy being part of a team environment and being part of a football club.
Our ethos of putting the children at the heart of everything we do is symbolised by our older players getting involved with coaching in the ‘Academy’. It is great to watch the younger members looking up to the older players as role models and, standing on the touchlines supporting them at their games.
We also encourage mixed teams at the Mini Soccer Academy with Boys and Girls playing in the same training sessions and teams, enjoying football together. We have the facilities to enable this to happen in a safe and friendly environment.
The U11 and U12 teams play 9v9, again to help them develop before moving to the full 11v11 game from U13 to our U18’s. Some of our teams have been successful appearing in finals and winning championships, however, the most important thing, here at the YMCA, is we try to build an environment of trust, understanding and honesty by developing a warm, safe and encouraging environment for players and coaches to learn without the fear of failure, for everyone to enjoy the game of association football.
We also promote the Football Associations RESPECT campaign.
Laund Hill is now the base for the Huddersfield Rams Austrailian football team, they play a number of games over the summer, watch out for their fixture list on the Aussie Rules page.
